Packet Radio in the Winnipeg region as of January 6, 2007
* Main frequency is 145.01 Mhz, the mode is 1200 baud AFSK, frequency
is shared between regular packet users and AMPRnet (ip) stations.
* Regular stations heard are VE4KLM and VE4BBS.
* The AMPRnet (internet) gateway is VE4KLM, serving the 44.135.125.0/24
subnet. You can telnet winnipeg.ampr.org from the internet side to
access the gateway box (running JNOS 2.0 software). From there you
can connect to local RF stations, or just see who's on frequency.
* VE4BBS (Werner) is an F6FBB BBS located near VE4KLM (Maiko).
* Other stations heard are VE4YZ (Allan) and VE4WSC (seniors club).
* Unfortunately there are NO long haul digipeaters available at this time,
the last one (VE4RAG) disappeared a year ago. Too bad, since it covered
a very large portion of south central Manitoba.
* Very rare, but when conditions are good, it is possible to connect to
the N0OJS-1 node in Turtle Mountain, ND, and the WC0M bbs in Rock Lake,
ND (if Bill is still running his system). From N0OJS-1 node, you might
be able to hit VE4GQ in Brandon (if Eric is still running his system).
