LINUX
- required packages - gcc, libgcc, make, binutils, ncurses-devel, and ncurses
- requires the tun kernel module (which is the default on most systems anyway)
JNOS 2.0e + patches compiles fine on the following test platforms here at work :
- Desktop Edition Ubuntu 6.10 - DELL Dimension 1100 / Intel Celeron D - see notes on compiling
- Fedora Core 6 - DELL Optiplex 745 / Intel Core 2
- Scientific Linux 4.4 - IBM Intellistation M Pro / Dual Pentium III
- Scientific Linux 4.4 - DELL Dimension C521 / AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+
- Scientific Linux 4.4 - DELL PowerEdge 2950 / Dual Intel Xeon 5160 Dual Core 3.00 Ghz
The following are known (from user reports and my own test compiles) to work fine :
- Debian 3.0r3 and 3.1
- Fedora Core 1, 2, 3, and 4
- Mandrake 10.1
- Red Hat 9 and Enterprise Linux (Workstation and Advanced Server)
- Slackware 9.1 and 10.1
- Suse 9.2

- Borland C++ 3.0 Copyright (c) 1991, TLIB 3.02, Turbo Link 5.0, Make 3.6
- Borland C++ 3.1 Copyright (c) 1992, TLIB 3.02, Turbo Link 5.1, Make 3.6
MAC OS X
- OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Darwin 8.6.0 kernel, gcc 4.0.0 compiler - powerpc
