JNOS INSTALLER - history of changes * Released 2.1D (DOS version of linux installer) - January 31, 2008 main difference is in the autoexec template file. DOS (also Windows) uses packet drivers while linux uses the tun0 devices. Also the DOS version specifically asks for the IP address ! differences between version 2.1 and 2.0 - January 26, 2008 ---------------------------------------------------------- * It was suggested to me that the JNOS installer should really create a configuration that allows for LOCAL mail delivery. In other words anyone connecting to the JNOS system should be able to exchange mail with other users on that system. This also got me thinking about a few things ... 1) Decided to keep DNS lookup local to JNOS, in other words DNS lookup is now done using the 'domain.txt' file. The DNS addserver and cache clean entries in the autoexec.nos template are no longer in use for this cfg. The installer now creates a default 'domain.txt' file. It is important to note - LOCAL mail delivery depends on the 'ip addr' entry in autoexec.nos template to match the ip address of the JNOS side of the tun0 interface. 2) Decided to remove the reference to 'ampr.org', which in reality refers to the 44-net, which is far beyond the scope of this installer. Therefore the DNS suffix entry in the autoexec.nos template has also been removed, and the JNOS hostname is now a simple one word name - no suffix ! 3) Added 'start smtp' to the autoexec.nos template file, so that the SMTP server is running, allowing for local mail delivery. differences between version 2.0 and 1.0 - January 22, 2008 ---------------------------------------------------------- 1) configuration of one AXIP and one AXUDP interface to a remote system. 2) you are not forced to configure a TNC, interface, or beacon now. You can opt out of any or all of them, leaving you with a basic telnet server. 3) the installer will now put in the FULL help files originally distributed with the JNOS 1.11f release. There are two sets of help files, one for the sysop console (/jnos/help), and one for mailbox users (/jnos/spool/help). 4) version 2.0f of a JNOS binary. original version 1.0 - July 21, 2005 ------------------------------------ 1) basic installer, tun interface with linux, one TNC with beacon. --- Copyright (C) beginning of time to 2008 by Maiko Langelaar / VE4KLM
